Wednesday are for suckers. Best to keep your head down, try
to go unnoticed. They are for mean folk and angry motorists and
people that knock you over in the night. If you are with me you
are thinking Wednesday is a good day to stay inside. Read.
Thursdays are another story.
So here is to Thursday, and the new book by today's author (actually
the author of today's piece, not the author of Wednesday which
would, given our previous statements on that enemy of a day, be
a considerable put-down) Billeh Nickerson,
to be released tomorrow. Thursday that is, because it is well
past midnight on the edges of East Vancouver; with no hi-speed
internet & two cats & one dog and no love or red hot things
anywhere & no passion—It is already screaming Wednesday in
here.
The book is published by the good people at Arsenal
Pulp Press. It's called Let Me Kiss It Better
and judging by today's offering it will be very good.
The release party is somewhere in downtown Vancouver tomorrow,
October 17th, 2002—ah Thursday!—in a bar (you'll never
get in) not on but affiliated with Homer, that's all we can really
say (though the passwords, I am quite sure, include both Mike
and Reno); that and Matt and I will be there with bells and clothes
on. And we won't be the only ones—KJB.
