 I see this sparrow
in this puddle at sunset

 & it's like a last crumb
of dinosaur-phosphorous
 that's been tamped into
this pudgy feathered bundle
 of nervous city-seeds
& shit-—then twisted shut
 at the beak & tail

& dampened in God's mouth Man
& set fire to like a righteous doobie
