In Such a Hunger
by Lorna Crozier

Close to your ear a swallow's wings
are paper flipping, small notebook
made of grace and fall. In wind
a crow makes the sound of two
wooden slats joined by a leather hasp.
But the great horned owl!

A small breath is louder in the air.

Only the heart, old hunter,
flies in such a hunger
on silent wings.

Lorna Crozier watches from high above.
